At HELGA Kajiado, our programs are designed to protect, educate, and empower girls, women, and communities through holistic interventions that create lasting transformation.
Grace Nanana Education & Rescue Centre provides immediate protection and holistic care for girls escaping harmful practices such as early marriage and FGM.
The centre offers safe shelter, nutritious meals, psychosocial support, mentorship, and a nurturing environment where girls can heal, rebuild confidence, and begin again. every girl deserves safety, education, and opportunity, HELGA works at the heart of communities to address barriers such as gender-based violence, harmful cultural practices, and limited access to education.
Education is at the core of HELGA’s mission to create lasting change for vulnerable girls and young women. We work to ensure that every learner has access to quality education through school sponsorships, provision of uniforms and learning materials, mentorship, academic guidance, and safe learning spaces. For girls who have experienced disruption due to harmful cultural practices, poverty, or social exclusion, our education support program provides a pathway back to learning and renewed opportunity. By keeping girls in school and helping them succeed, we equip them with the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
HELGA believes that empowering women creates stronger families and more resilient communities. Our women empowerment program provides literacy and numeracy classes, vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and access to practical economic opportunities that promote self-reliance.
We support women to build confidence, acquire marketable skills, and establish sustainable income-generating activities that improve household wellbeing. Through mentorship and capacity-building initiatives, women are empowered to become active decision-makers, role models, and advocates for positive social transformation within their communities.
Young people are powerful drivers of social change, and HELGA is committed to nurturing their potential through meaningful engagement and leadership development. Our youth engagement program creates opportunities for mentorship, life-skills development, civic participation, and personal growth. Through workshops, mentorship sessions, peer learning, and leadership initiatives, young people are equipped with the confidence and practical skills needed to make informed decisions and positively influence their communities. By investing in youth today, we are helping shape a generation of responsible, innovative, and compassionate leaders for tomorrow.
Healing and emotional wellbeing are essential for long-term empowerment and personal growth. HELGA’s mental wellness program provides psychosocial support, counselling services, trauma-informed care, and safe spaces where girls and women can process difficult experiences and begin the journey toward healing.
Many of the individuals we support have experienced trauma, exclusion, or emotional distress, making compassionate support a critical part of their recovery. Through professional guidance, peer support, and wellness-focused interventions, we help restore confidence, resilience, and hope for a healthier future.
Lasting transformation can only happen when entire communities are engaged in driving change. HELGA’s community advocacy program works closely with parents, elders, local leaders, schools, and other stakeholders to challenge harmful practices and promote the rights, education, and protection of girls and women. Through dialogue forums, awareness campaigns, parental engagement sessions, and collaborative partnerships, we foster understanding and collective action toward gender equality and social inclusion. By empowering communities to become champions of change, we help create safer, more supportive environments where every girl can thrive.
Access to nutritious food is fundamental to health, learning, and community wellbeing. HELGA’s food security program addresses immediate nutritional needs while building long-term sustainability through agricultural initiatives, nutrition education, and community resilience projects.
We support food production efforts that benefit the Grace Nanana Education & Rescue Centre and surrounding households, ensuring girls and families have access to reliable and nutritious meals. By promoting sustainable farming practices and local food solutions, we strengthen resilience, improve health outcomes, and create pathways toward self-sufficiency.
In many communities, girls face significant barriers including early marriage, limited access to education, and gender-based violence. Without intervention, these challenges continue cycles of poverty and inequality.
HELGA exists to break these cycles—ensuring every girl has the chance to learn, grow, and lead.
You can help us create a safer, more equitable future for girls and communities.
